Where are you from?

I grew up at the Baltic Sea on a peninsula called Fischland/ Darß.

Your style in 3 words?

minimal, emotional, combined

Your weakness? Your strength?

My weakness is the doubt in my ideas. My strength is that my ideas come stronger again when my inner critic pauses.

What makes you different?

I search for forms that are nearby our inner needs of human beings. In the moment of doing art, I feel like a caveman searching for colours and forms, my cave drawings.

When did you decide to become an artist?

I grew up in the studios of my family. Art was / is surrounding me. Ideas are constantly inside of me.

Do you choose your art form, or does the form choose you?

Personally, I love safety and friendliness. Together with my work in the studio, I feel both, so I think it’s a mix.

What do you find most fascinating about the creative process/your work?

I love the moment when a picture inside of my head becomes real.

A few words about your favourite creation?

My favourite creation is the>Familien-Wolke< from 2020. Its created during the first period of the pandemic when my whole family stayed at home in lockdown. We got very close in positive and negative ways. In the artwork the forms/ persons get his/ her own place, in giving and taking space and care, everybody loses and wins.

What surprised you most about your first art shows?

…the topics outside of everyday life like feelings, thoughts and dreams.

Someone else’s work that inspired or inspires you…

…Karl Heinz-Adler, Vera-Marie von Claer, Hilma af Klint, Rudolf Kügler and my children

Who would you like to work with someday and why?

…with Colette Dörrwand, a photographer, because she doesn`t only looks with the eyes and Ilka Raupach, a sculptor because she loves the nature forms like me.

A new project coming up or an idea you want to work on?

In November this year, I will work at the ice hotel in Jukkasjärvi in North Sweden together with Ilka Raupach. My first time completely in ice and snow, a really fresh material.

Finish the sentence „More important than my career is…“

… the health of my children, that it rains where it is dry, and the wish that it’s no war on this planet.

2022: Where are we going?

…in the Chinese calendar, it is a tiger year, I think it can become difficult.

Do you think about time as an artist?

I think about the time from the everyday life of humans / me outside of the studio, I transport it in my work.

When the going gets tough…

…i try to take a break, rather in the nature or garden or a talk with a good friend.

Put on your future vision glasses: What direction is our generation moving in, what will our world look like in 50 years?

I`m afraid to look through that glasses.

What would you do if you could change the World?

Cleaning women would become the new generation of millionaires.

What does freedom mean when it comes to art?

For me, freedom exists in art when pain calms down and feelings come out in colours and lines.

If the universe is everything and it’s expanding, what is it expanding into?

I think all energy comes from a circle or a ball. When it’s on the way maybe it’s in an elliptical line, like a wave.
