It can be anything. I’m not like most designers, who have to set sail on an exotic journey to get inspiration. Mostly, it happens on my walk or work or when I am sitting in the subway and see something random.
Tell us a little bit about your work?
I’m an independent fashion designer. After working with several designers in Paris and Antwerp, I decided to move to Berlin in 2009. I launched my label „Studio Laend Phuengkit“ in 2010. I graduated from the Academy of Art and Design in Basel. My aesthetic work and designs are characterised by European and Asian patterns and styles fused together, evoking the contrasting lifestyles and philosophies of life. I achieve this by incorporating different shapes, patterns and prints.
What makes you different?
A compelling mixture of a Swiss background, Thai roots and a healthy dose of Berlin edginess.
Your style in 3 words?
Hybrid – Colourful – Unique
What makes you happy?
Sweets, chocolate and music
Do you speak schwyzerdütsch?
Yes I do!
Please say something typically …
What is the meaning?
It is typical Swiss-German and means kitchen cupboard
Wow! Your next project?
You are from Zurich, where is the best place to be there?
Depot & Fridas Büxe
You now live in Berlin… What do you like most there?
The big creative scene. The city is going through an incredible cultural uprising and it’s filled with interesting people and music, art and fashion projects, amongst other things. It’s fusing together. I’m lucky to work in this city.
